Members of The Ilford Magical Society regularly give up their time to support charities and good causes by taking part in fundraising events featuring close-up magic and a stage cabaret. Here’s what some charity event organisers say about the magic shows.

Stewart Cameron, Director, Stonyhill Bowls Club

A big thank-you for entertaining members of Stonyhill Bowls Club and their guests. Your show was so professional and everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
I am delighted to say that the event raised more than £700 which will be used to improve facilities at our indoor bowls club in Brentwood.
The photos on our website (http://www.stonyhillbowls.co.uk/?p=901) show what a magical time we had.

Martin Wales, Deputy Chairman, Cranham Surgery Patients Participation Group:

On Saturday September 18, The llford Magical Society organised an Evening of Magic at the Cranham Community Centre on behalf of the Cranham Surgery Patients Participation Group.

Many of those attending were unsure what exactly to expect but I can assure you that the evening was a great success. It was very efficiently organised and those present took to the magicians from the start and enjoyed a great evening of entertainment.

The MC was very good and kept everything running smoothly. The magicians themselves were very friendly and it was an evening that was enjoyed by everybody.

Can you please pass on our thanks to all those members of llford Magical Society who entertained us with such a professional and successful evening? It was great fun.

P.G. Ould, Hon. Sec. Leukaemia Research:

Would you pass on our very grateful thanks to your members for the excellent show they gave for us recently. As I said at the time, I thought it was one of the best I have seen.

Our profit for the evening was £455.90 which will go towards much needed funds for research into this dreadful disease.

Again with our thanks to you all, your continued support is very much appreciated.

Sandy Ainger, Chairperson, Friends of Highfield Infants’ School:

I am writing to say thank you to you and all the magicians who performed for us at our Magical Evening.

I have already spoken to a few people since the event and they have all praised the talents of the magicians and said how much they enjoyed the evening.

It’s fair to say that even witnessing literally ‘magic before our very eyes’, we are still none the wiser as to how it is done – and quite right too!

I am in no doubt that this is an event which we would very much like to do again in the future. Once again our thanks to you all for such a wonderful evening!

Pat Sayer, Chairperson, Ongar Group of the Helen Rollason Heal Cancer Charity:

Just a short note to thank you and all your members for such an enjoyable evening. I have had a lot of telephone calls from people saying that they have not enjoyed a fundraising evening so much. Well done to you all.

It was not only very enjoyable but we also made around £700 profit to go to the HEAL Charity, which was an excellent result. Once again, many thanks to you and all your members.
